Clinical Services

Dr. Emily Cavell offers many clinical services designed to meet the unique needs of each individual. After an initial consultation, great care is taken to determine which service will be the most beneficial.

Accelerated Therapy

This focused modality is often used when people are in transition with relationships and career paths. Dr. Cavell has been trained extensively in Motivational Interviewing, a technique which encourages thoughtful decision-making in a supportive context. If you have found yourself wondering if this is the right time to make a change in your life, this method may be a good fit for your needs.

Change-Oriented Therapy

Dr. Cavell specializes in seeing patients who have tried traditional talk therapy, but were frustrated by seeing minimal results in terms of real world gains. If you’ve completed traditional psychotherapy, but have continued to feel stuck or dissatisfied, Dr. Cavell’s clinical approach may be the right thing for you.

Insight-oriented Psychotherapy

For clients who are new to the process of psychotherapy, this exploratory approach can be the right place to start. Often people come to therapy with feelings of general dissatisfaction in their lives, but are unclear about the underlying causes. Dr. Cavell cultivates a unique alliance with each person she treats and uses that connection to identify patterns of negative thinking and feeling. By recognizing these patterns, together we will be taking the first step on the road to leading a full and satisfying life.

Couples Therapy

Dr. Cavell’s training in motivational interviewing allows her to identify the seeds of change when listening to couples interact. With a non-judgmental, gentle, yet straightforward style, Dr. Cavell helps couples navigate difficult conflicts and relationship gridlock.
